My Mind Wanders

My mind wanders, especially when it comes to photography & photojournalism. I have so many ideas in my head. I photograph everything. It's rare to see me without a camera draped around my neck. I joke that I used to wear necklaces, now I just wear cameras. I photograph everything. For example...this weekend:

I began my weekend by going to a new "cupcake boutique" that opened in Macon. Since I love food photography and the lighting in the store was...NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!!!...I whipped out my camera and ran around like a madwoman taking pictures.

Saturday, I stepped outside with my camera and...

..went bird watching.

My sweet grandma turned eighty this weekend, and of course I was juggling two cameras and a video camera...

The point of showing you my weekend in photos is to demonstrate the fact that I photograph pretty much everything. So controlling my mind and coming up with a "theme" to photograph each week for the entire semester was difficult. I began thinking of things that I love to photograph. I love grocery stores and local restaurants. I love patterns and repetition. I'm a sucker for a well-controlled background. (I'm constantly having to remind myself to bump up my aperture.) I love people interacting. And I love small, southern towns. They have such beautiful architecture, interesting people; they encompass everything I love about the South.

So my experiement this semester is to explore. Explore small-town America. I want to travel to these small towns each weekend, capture them in photographs, uncover the stories there. The first adventure? Rabbittown, Georgia, on Saturday, January 22nd, 2011.

So, see? My mind wanders. But remember, "not all who wander are lost." -- J.R.R. Tolkien.

**Sidenote: These photos were taken with my Nikon D90. Still figuring out the Canon...**
